Tagging your first image

Last Updated: Dec 22, 2011 01:18PM PST
Note: The following instructions apply to those users who are using Stipple on their personal sites and blogs. These instructions do not apply to Stipple Pipeline users.

Prior to following the steps outlined here, please make sure that you have Stipple installed and running on your site. The instructions to get Stipple installed are outlined here. Along with having Stipple installed, you should also make sure that you are logged into Stipple. Log in by visiting http://stippleit.com/. Once you log in, our system places a unique cookie on your browser which is required for tagging pictures on your own site.

Once you have Stipple installed, each image on your site will have a "Tag Image" button appear on the image.

If the "Tag Image" button is not visible, it may be because of one of the following reasons:
  1. you are not logged into Stipple
  2. the site that you are trying to tag an image on is not added to your user profile on Stipple
  3. the Stipple javascript code is not properly installed on your site
Clicking on the "Tag Image" will cause the mouse pointer to change to a "crosshair" pointer allowing you to click anywhere on the image. Once you click on a particular point on the image, the following dialogue box will appear:

In this dialogue box, you can cut/paste any link and Stipple's link parsing system will try and detect the content and create an appropriate widget for you. If you are pasting a link from any of the following sites, then Stipple already understands their API and will create a custom tag for you.
  • YouTube
  • Google Maps
  • Foursquare
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Vimeo
  • Wikipedia
  • Soundcloud
  • Eventbrite
Alternatively, if you are creating a product (shop) tag. Start by clicking over to the "Product" tab and type in a few words describing the product. If we have the product in our database, we will surface appropriate matching results. If not, you can add the product into our system by clicking the "Add Product" button and filling in the required fields.

Once done with entering all the relevant info for your tag, hit "Save" and your tag is now created! Its that simple!
